Hockey Nights, Skincare, and Showing Up for Our Community
Our table at the 12-19 knight monster’s hockey game
Some partnerships just make sense.
Others are unexpected in the best way.
When I decided out to collaborate with our local hockey team, it wasn’t because beauty and hockey are an obvious pairing. It was because hockey is new here. It’s exciting. And most importantly, it’s for locals. and I really like hockey.
Hockey nights feel different. They’re not built around the tourist economy. They’re built around community. Neighbors sitting together. Families bundled up. Friends yelling at the refs. It’s loud, energetic, and a little unhinged in a way that feels like fun.
And honestly, that’s part of the magic.
Tahoe Beauty and Hockey Actually Have a Lot in Common
Cold arenas. Dry air. Chapped cheeks. Red faces. Sweaty men.
Let’s be real, hockey can be rough on the skin and the soul.
The energy is high. People want hits. Sometimes they want blood. But they also go home at the end of the night. They wash their face. They feel the dryness. The tightness. The aftermath of winter air and adrenaline.
Skincare doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It exists in real life.
In arenas and locker rooms. In winter weather and heated spaces. In moments of stress, excitement, and release.
That’s where these conversations actually matter.
Why This Collaboration Matters to Me
I sought out this partnership because it represents something bigger than marketing. It’s about visibility in places where beauty businesses don’t usually show up.
Seeing Winnie & Ruth on the arena LED board for the first time was surreal. Not because it’s flashy, but because it means my work is reaching people who might not otherwise cross paths with an esthetician.
It sparks curiosity.
It makes people pause.
It plants a seed.
And that matters.
I love that this collaboration connects my business with a niche of the community that feels unexpected. It stretches the definition of where skincare belongs. and for me, it belongs everywhere.
Skincare Can Be Serious and Still Be Fun
At the rink, I want people to see my funny side.
Our goalie’s name is Cameron Whitehead. If you don’t think an esthetician partnering with someone named Whitehead is kismet, I don’t know what is. (still offering several free services to someone who can get me a sweater IYKYK)
At a game, I get to laugh, joke, and meet people where they are. In the treatment room, I’m still funny, but I’m focused. Intentional. Serious about your skin and the trust you place in me.
Both versions are true.
Hockey has become an outlet for me too. A distraction from the heaviness of the world. A place where people from all walks of life come together for something shared. That kind of joy matters.
If Winnie & Ruth Were a Teammate
Winnie & Ruth would be a defenseman.
We’ve got your skin’s back.
We protect the barrier.
We work hard.
And we keep our eyes on the goal.
This collaboration isn’t about trying to make skincare fit where it doesn’t belong. It’s about showing that care can exist everywhere. Even in loud arenas. Even alongside body checks and slap shots.
Especially there.
Because taking care of yourself doesn’t mean stepping away from life. It means being supported enough to fully show up for it.
Proud to support our local team, the tahoe Knight Monsters, and even prouder to be part of this community.
I’ll see you at the arena. And in the treatment room.
